 No.282[Reply]

Re-writing this since I removed a lot of the word filters that messed with the original post. Welcome to /y2k/! This is a board for talking about anything and everything from the 2000's, especially Internet culture from the time.

RULES

1. Remember the 8chan global rule - any illegal content will be removed either by me or the global admins.

2. This is a SFW board. NSFW content, spoilered or not, will be removed.

3. No modern slang; it's annoying to other users and will just be removed provided it isn't already filtered.

4. No spamming or flooding the board.

5. Don't post personal information about anyone but yourself.

6. Don't send false reports, or "over-report" over 9000 posts.

7. No political discussion. Images about political events from the time are moar or less k, but meaningless bickering over Bush and 9/11 will result in a ban.

8. Have fun!

The Infinity Cup returns this summer! This is the perfect opportunity to try and get some much-needed traffic to our board.

We've got quite a bit of time before the entry deadline (20th July) to prepare all the things needed:

>/y2k/ logo

>home kit

>away kit

>alternate kit

>GK kit

>team roster

>home stadium name

>anthem

>goalhorns

The tournament rules can be found at:

http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Rules

We have a lot of material to work with here, music, memes, games, you name it. Anyone have any ideas to share for the team?

Do you guys consider halfchan/f/ as a good board to browse? I'm surprised it still doesn't seem to have all the lingo and stuff from the rest of the boards, but that may be since I only go there once in a blue moon

What were the emos like at your school or wherever you where in the 2000s? What did people think of them? What are they doing now and when did they grow out of it? Where you an emo? Did you get lucky and date an emo girl?

20 posts and 3 image replies omitted. Click reply to view.

 No.1718

emos didn't really exist for us until at least middle school. the whole goth thing was before that. emos were a small quiet minority that later influenced musical culture in a disproportionate way i think.

2000s emo was always a guilty pleasure, probably because it was some of the first emo i listened to. Fall out boy and Panic suck, but i think their are some others bands from back then that are underplayed

 No.1736

>>1376

Ah dude, I totally know what you mean.

I did hang out with a lot of scenesters, but all and all my social area spanned the entirety of my age group. Mostly drifted towards /b/tard/anon mentality people though - oh which, conicidemtally, most I've met were also dressing in the scene fashion.

 No.1737

File: 70faa5a017bec22⋯.jpg (122.25 KB, 800x602, 400:301, 1537060451893.jpg)

I used to be somewhat of a local internet emo celeb around 06-07. Before the dawning of facebook, there were still local social networks competing for position with myspace. So you'd get entire nieche social-networks specific to one area. We had one such thing up here in western Canada called nexopia. We also had a pretty hardcore emo scene, one that a vast majority of kids connected with through Nexopia.

Being an emo/scene kid back then was really fun as everyone genuinely felt like they were honest about themselves. Good and bad, we were all shitheads that shared our experiences together. And we partied fucking hard man. Now I'd think a lot of that stuff is degenerate but I never used to consider them that way even a little bit at the time; They were all great people and I had very high hopes for us, like we could change the world if we don't end up killing ourselves first.

Of course, most did end up becomming the biggest of hipster faggot trash and completely forgot how to see the world and became everything they said they'd never be. So it is.

I have a theory that the vaporwave/synthwave scenes that flourished, mostly on the internet, in the last decade were composed of some of the OG scenesters who "grew up" but I have no way of confirming.

>>1436

Indeed, an entire gang of stoned and drunk emos was enough to shut anyone up due to sheer shock I imagine.

Those days were such fun times. So many kids who just did not give a fuck together.

>>1414

Joke's on you pal: They were 90% whores and completely unlike pure 2D. I would know.

I vaguely recall that 06-06-06 was to be Emo Beatdown Day. If I hadn't have already graduated high school by then I would've loved to participate.

I ran a search through all my hard drives to see the oldest files I could find, but most of what I could find from the 00s were programs, non-flash games, porn, IRC logs, and shitty stuff I made that isn't really worth posting. Though I did find one Doom mod that's 00s as fuck, vid related is some good footage I found of it.

90's was better. I thaink teh world secretly ended at y2k and thais is all a horrible dream we're forced to relive every single day. Like I was going to talk about floppy disks.. But that's technically not even 2000s.. Point being nothaing good rly came out of teh 2000s… teh only thaing I can say that was good about teh 2000s was enjoying teh remaining spoils of teh 90s.. Thais is starting to sound depressing.

Somebody throw me an mp4 with a happy/nostalgic tune.

I remember using Windows XP Home Edition at some point.. Using 64MB ATI graphaics card. That was fun… Playing online games back tehn.. People hacking tehm… Raging at tehm threatening to kill tehair parents.. seemed to be moar enjoyable than teh games available today… Can't tell if it's just nostalgia or legit preference/enjoyment… Or teh sour grapes of growing up a 1337tle bit. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just borderline autistic/barely normal.

>Generic USB Chinese Gaymer Mouse

>Dell PS/2 Keyboard

>I'm just listing shit off now to look cool

Picked up some old vidya at my local flea market (Unreal II, Far Cry, Deus Ex: Invisible War, Diablo 2 + Lords of Darkness, Rise of Nations), took forever to get them working because the latest drivers on AMD's website for the GPU don't fucking work, but the ones on the CD do (I'm amazed I still have it honestly)

Until 2014 all I had was a desktop with Windows XP, intel Core 2 duo and 2gb of ram (I know it's not bad), but I didn't have a video card so I struggled to play some old games even.

I think it used to be an amd 64 and then got upgraded (because of the sticker in the case) somewhere in 2006 or something but I was too young back then to know about this. The DVD drive was also obviously added later.

Still have it over at my desk because I've been meaning to transfer some files from it.

The lack of storage space used to bother me though. I don't remember the exact number.
